Community

We love our Decatur community and have strong partnerships with these organizations:

Northeast Community Fund

Founded in 1969 by St. John’s Lutheran Church and three local businesses, the Northeast Community Fund serves families in Decatur and Macon County through resources like food, clothing, and financial assistance — all in a Christ-like manner. The Northeast Community Fund is a great place to volunteer and is always accepting clothing, nonperishable food, and financial donations.

Unity Christian School

St. John’s is proud to be an association member of Unity Christian School, a ministry of the Lutheran School Association (LSA). Unity provides families in our congregation and the greater Decatur community a solid, Christ-centered education for grades K-12. Learn how you can get involved at our association school.

LSA Resale Shop

The LSA Resale Shop is a nonprofit store that provides clothing and household items at a reasonable price to Decatur families while also supporting Unity Christian School. The LSA Resale Shop is located at 421 E. Cerro Gordo St. in Decatur.  Hours are 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Boy Scouts (11–17 years old)
Activities this past year: rock climbing, summer camp, snow skiing, scuba diving, earned badges, camped out, went swimming, took a bike trip, learned leadership and outdoor skills, learned gun safety, served our community and much more!
