Sunday School
Sunday School is a very important aspect of our children's ministry at St. John's.
We offer a year- round program with a less "classroom" structure during the summer months.
We strive to offer a high-quality program that is not only geared to help the child grow in his/her relationship with Jesus Christ and with others but we hope to offer a ministry
that is fun and inviting to our children as well. Parents are strongly encouraged to spend time in God's Word with their child(ren). Occasionally during the Sunday school year we also offer Family Sunday School where children and parents join together in song, lesson and craft.
Fish Group Ministry
Fish Groups consist of about four to fourteen people who meet regularly to study God's Word, support one another, pray and worship together, and carry out mission or servant projects. Through mutual encouragement and accountability, group members are challenged to become more like Jesus every day.

Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir is composed of people high school age and older who love to sing and have a desire to praise the Lord through music. The choir enhances our Sunday morning traditional services approximately once a month with a wide variety of traditional and modern sacred music. The choir practices every Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. from September through May.

Worship Team
Our worship team helps lead our Sunday morning Contemporary Service and also participates in special services and concerts throughout the year. The worship team practices Wednesday evening at 7:30.
Wednesday Morning Bible Class
Having started with Genesis a number of years ago, this group is now studying the New Testament. The class meets every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. and is usually led by a staff member. This class provides Christian fellowship and an avenue for delving deeper into the scriptures and their application to everyday life.
Living Nativity
Our most ambitious annual event takes place the first weekend in December and utilizes the entire St. John's campus. Hundreds of members participate in depicting scenes from Jesus' birth through His resurrection and several thousand people from Decatur and surrounding communities walk and drive through. The Living Nativity is our Christmas present to the community.

Youth Ministry
Junior High Youth, sixth through eighth graders, usually meet on the 1st Sunday of each month from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. The goal of this ministry is to provide Christian fellowship in an atmosphere of acceptance. Some of the yearly events include water parks, serving dinners, scavenger hunts, a mission trip, cookouts, camping, and servant events.
Senior High Youth, ninth through twelfth graders, usually meet each Sunday of each month from 6:30-8:00 p.m. The goal of this ministry is to provide a comfortable place to study the Bible, share with each other, as well as provide Christian fellowship and growth.
Some of the events for our Sr. High Youth include Bible Study, weekend ski trips, serving meals, national and district youth gatherings, social events, retreats, mission trips, and servant events.

Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is held each summer (usually the end of June) for children entering grades K-6. The theme changes on a yearly basis. We feel that teaching about Jesus Christ in our Vacation Bible School venue should be very "hands on" and experiential. This is not only true for the children participants but also for the youth and adult volunteers.
Northeast Community Fund
This private social service agency was founded in 1969 as an outreach of St. John's in cooperation with local business and industry. Housed at 825 N. Water Street, it provides advocacy, counseling, and emergency services such as food, clothing, furniture, prescriptions, and assistance with utilities. The agency also acts as a resource for helping people access other social services. See us at northeastcommunityfund.org

Caring & Sharing
The first Sunday of the month a special offering is taken in each worship service and is placed in our Caring & Sharing Fund. This fund is used to help people in our congregation who have financial needs due to situations such as illness or unemployment.
Informal Men's Fellowship and Praying
Every Thursday from 6-7, men meet for informal praying for personal, national, and church related issues at Steak n Shake on Pershing. We do not meet on any particular holidays that occur on Thursdays.

Friendship Circle
Friendship Circle meets the third Tuesday of the month from September through May. The ladies' main activities are the rummage sales they hold every spring and fall. The money they make goes to missions, to help support seminary students, and for various other worthy causes.
